UKRO understands that invitations are now being sent to beneficiaries of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) to apply for the dedicated Special Needs Lump Sum (SNLS). Information is being sent from the Research Executive Agency (REA) and includes the guide for applicants, the terms and conditions of the SNLS, and a direct link to apply for the allowance. The application period is expected to be open continuously, with 2 cut off dates in 2019 - 24 April and 7 November at 17:00 Brussels time. Beneficiaries who have not yet received this information should expect it in the next few days.
The funding takes the form of a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) and is available for the additional costs entailed by recruited or seconded researchers/staff members with disabilities whose long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments are such that their participation in MSCA would not be possible without extra financial support.
Beneficiaries of ongoing MSCA grants can apply for the SNLS in any of the following actions: Innovative Training Networks (ITN), Individual Fellowships (IF), Research and Innovation Staff Exchanges (RISE) and Co-funding of regional, national and international programmes (COFUND).
UKRO are hosting a webinar about the Special Needs allowance for MSCA. Registration is limited to research office support staff, however a recording of the webinar will be made available after the event, through the UKRO portal. Any questions can be sent to the UK MSCA NCP Helpdesk (email@example.com).
UKRO previously reported on the update to the Annotated Model Grant Agreement (AMGA) which was updated in December to include a number of new annotations for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Special Needs Lump Sum (SNLS) Model Grant Agreement (MGA).
